About

The Partnership

Pathways: Experiences of PTSD is the product of a collaboration between Carleton University’s Department of History and the Centre of Excellence (COE) on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Related Mental Health Conditions. In association with the COE, Carleton students gathered testimony from seven individuals living with PTSD including Veterans, first responders and Family members. Based on these testimonies, students researched, developed, curated, and assembled this virtual exhibition under the skilled guidance of Dr. Trina Cooper-Bolam and COE Manager of Content Production, Kate Laing.

Special Thanks

The team would like to express our deep appreciation to the individuals (Veterans, first responders and Family members) who courageously and generously agreed to share their experiences of living with PTSD. Their stories are moving and powerful. Their willingness to speak openly about their experiences with PTSD fostered a unique and inspiring learning experience, and made this exhibition possible. We would also like to thank COE staff members Kate Laing (Manager of Content Production), Laryssa Lamrock (Strategic Advisor – Family), Sara Rodrigues (Manager - Research and Innovation) and Ghislain Girard (Manager of Web Operations) for their guidance and direction in the development of the exhibition. A special thanks is also shared with Stephanie Pyne for their assistance with audio editing. Finally, we would like to thank the Carleton University Department of History for their financial assistance to support the Exhibit’s production and to our instructor, Dr. Trina Cooper-Bolam, for her assistance and expertise.

This exhibit was developed by a team of emerging curators and public historians, graduate students of Carleton University’s Department of History in partnership with the Centre of Excellence on PTSD. These organizations respectfully operate in Ottawa, the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishnaabeg people.
